SFG organises meetings dealing with various topics; publishes a bulletin three times a year with information and review articles as an attached document in " Médecine/Sciences " (allowing a large impact towards French speaking biologists); and also edits a membership directory (last update was 1998).
There are 400 members in SFG. Research topics are so diverse that seven main fields were defined: molecular and cell genetics, microbial genetics, cytogenetics, developmental genetics, population genetics and ecology, quantitative genetics and selection, normal and pathological human genetics.
