A case of Down syndrome with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and t(8;14)(q11;q32)

Age and sex : 17 year(s) old male patient.
Previous History : no preleukemia
no previous malignant disease
Organomegaly : no hepatomegaly ; no splenomegaly ; no enlarged lymph nodes ; no central nervous system involvement
Blood
WBC : 32.9 x 109/l; Hb : 7.7 g/dl; platelets : 9 x 109/l; blasts : 90%
Cyto pathology classification
Cytology : ALL - L1
Immunophenotype : CD10 (CALLA) positive; CD66 positive
Precise diagnosis : Early pre-B ALL
Survival
Date of diagnosis: 04-2001
Treatment : Treated on protocol BFM 95 - medium risk group.
Complete remission was obtained
Comments : second cytogenetic examination: 47,XY,+21[70] - complete cytogenetic response.
Status : Dead
Survival : 1 month(s)

Sample : bone marrow ; culture time : 24 h ; banding : R
Results : 47,XY, der(14)t(8;14)(q11;q32),+21 "c" [17]/47,XY,+21 "c" [3]
