Definition
Collecting duct carcinoma of the kidney is a rare and aggressive renal cell carcinoma (RCC) subtype, with typical, but not entirely specific, histologic features. Tumors arise in the medulla, from collecting tubules. As there are no specific immunophenotypic or molecular alterations, collecting duct carcinoma remains a diagnosis of exclusion. 1
