Definition
Ectopic tumors are those neoplasms of thyroid or parathyroid origin that occur in sites other than their typical location in the neck. Both ectopic thyroid and parathyroid lesions mainly occur in the anterior (prevascular) and/or superior mediastinum. See more details in WHO 2022 Endocrine and Neuroendocrine Tumours.
