Definition
Virtually any soft tissue tumor can arise at almost any site, on at least rare occasions, and are being identified with increasing frequency in the thorax. They show histopathological features and genetic markers no different from their soft tissue counterparts. Therefore, more comprehensive details will be available in the WHO 2020 Soft Tissue and Bone Tumors. Both benign and malignant lesions in the thorax can also be associated with inherited syndromes, such as DICER1 syndrome (pleuropulmonary blastoma), Li–Fraumeni syndrome (embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma).
