Definition

EBV-positive lymphoproliferative diseases of childhood can range from benign, self-limiting conditions to more aggressive and potentially life-threatening lymphomas.1,2 EBV infection contributes to genomic instability, leading to malignant transformation. 3,4

Systemic EBV-positive T-cell lymphoma of childhoodSystemic EBV-positive T-cell lymphoma of childhood is a rapidly progressing disease characterized by multiorgan failure, sepsis, and ultimately death and is caused by the clonal proliferation of T cells infected with the EBV. There are currently no consistent chromosome or gene alterations that have been identified in association with this disease.5,6
Hydroa vacciniforme lymphoproliferative disorderNo consistent chromosome/gene alterations are described. TCR is usually clonal but does not correlate with the severity of the disease.
