Definition
This non-neoplastic section included : 1) Necrotizing sialometaplasia , a relatively rare destructive and inflammatory lesion of the minor salivary glands on the hard palate; 1 2) Multifocal epithelial hyperplasia , also known as Heck's disease, a benign squamous epithelial proliferation caused by HPV, mainly subtypes 13 and 32, although other genotypes have also been detected,2,3 and oral melanoacanthoma a rare, mixed epithelial pigmented lesion mostly seen among blacks and more frequently in younger females.4
