Tousled-like kinase 2 (TLK2) gene maps to chromosome 17, to plus strand and consists of 31 exons and 30 introns. Multiple transcript variants are encoded by TLK2 gene due to alternative splicing. TLK2 is a member of Tousled-like kinases family of serine\/threonine kinases and composed of a C-terminal protein kinase catalytic domain, a middle region including three putative coiled coil (CC) domains and an N-terminal region carrying a nuclear localization signal. TLK2 has been implicated in DNA replication, regulation of cell cycle progression, development, as well as various diseases including cancer.
